One of the three bishops of the ELCH, Bishop Péter Gáncs, is retiring at the beginning of June, 2018. His successor will be elected by the congregations of the Southern Diocese during the spring. The four persons nominated for the position are Rev. György Aradi (Budapest), Rev. Péter Kondor (Békéscsaba), Rev. János Szeverényi (missions pastor of the ELCH) and Rev. István Vető (Budapest).
