Tamás Fabiny: In some way we must give a sign

Budapest – We shouldn’t resort to means like fear and scaring the people with an image of the enemy, says Tamás Fabiny. In addition to politics, migration and the [government-made political] billboards picturing George Soros, we also discussed more elevated topics with the Bishop of the North Disctrict of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hungary,such as the 21th century message of the 500-year-old Reformation and last but not least, what would he like to ask from PM Viktor Orbán.

From Texas to Budapest – Interview with Charlotte Flynn

Budapest – Charlotte Flynn, one of the eight volunteers serving in Hungary within YAGM – Young Adults in Global Mission – is slowly coming to the end of her volunteer year in Budapest. A colleague and friend asks her about her experiences.

"It is another variation of spreading fear" – Lutheran Bishop Tamás Fabiny on governmental politics

"It is another variation of spreading fear of the 23 million Rumanians [possibly entering the Hungarian labour market after a bilateral agreement in 2002]", says Lutheran Bishop Tamás Fabiny to the Mandiner portal about the government consultation on immigration and terrorism which distressed him just as much as the "eye-wash" of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán elaborating on capital punishment. As the Bishop says, "believers mustn't stick to a status ten years ago and take in everything what a given party feeds them". Fabiny was taken aback by government politics lacking true consultation – or as he puts it, the steam-roller. Read our interview here.

After this event we had a conversation with the Rev. Alexander Faludy.
